The Landing Bar & Kitchen, Newcastle, Australia

February 2014

It was another nice day for a drive and of course a relaxing lunch.

The Honeysuckle area in Newcastle was the location of Newcastle's former disused harbour front and has now been developed into a residential and eating area. The Landing Bar & Kitchen is a great place to sit outside and enjoy a drink and/or some food.

Mocktail $8 -
one of the best things about Newcastle is mocktail isn't a dirty word and they are willing to experiment

Fish taco (x3) $16
w/ crispy iceberg, jalapeno mayo &
tomato& pineapple salsa

The Landing beef burger $18
wagyu beef w/ lettuce, tomato, cheddar,
pickled cucumber & spicy mayo served with fries

For other things to do in Newcastle check out some older posts here, including what to do, what else to eat and where to sleep.

Scotties, Newcastle, Australia

December 2013

We had a spare day and some nice weather so decided to take a trip up the coast to Newcastle.

We're spent some time here, but never stumbled across this cute little take away place Scotties before.

Located within walking distance to the beach (100 - 200 m), it also has blankets so you can eat your takeaway on the strip of grass out the front.

The salted caramel thick shake $7 was a highlight

DH loved the hand cut chips $4, but found the battered Hake $8 to be a bit too oily

The Fish Burrito $12 was an interesting but tasty take on the popular fish tacos

Nagisa Japanese, Newcastle, Australia

March 2013

We love good Japanese, and in the area we live it's unfortunately hard to come by. Fortunately in Newcastle it's not. Nagisa is located in the Honeysuckle Wharf district.

We didn't order any mains we just ordered a variety of sushi, sashimi and starters.

Surfhouse Mereweather

We have always liked Mereweather and decided to book the new(ish) Surfhouse for our anniversary lunch. While the meal was fantastic, the weather (and therefore the view) did not play nice.

Nagisa Japanese

Buffet breakfast at the Crowne Plaza, they even have a made to order omelette stand

Drink
Its something I've got to say about Newcastle, as a non-drinker to get a variety of cocktails is a wonderful thing, to get to a place like The Landing Bar and be told they can make me whatever I wanted was fantastic. This is pretty common in the area from my experience, they train their bar staff well.

Do
The rain made Saturday miserable, but it was perfect weather to check out the Centenary Antique Centre
