VIP Ice skating at Rockefella Plaza

December 2013

Ice skating at Rockefella Plaza in NYC is an iconic tourist activity. For this reason we decided to book the VIP skating session, to skip the lines (we didn't have time to wait), to make sure we got the full time of the ice allowed and to give us a spot to rest if needed.

The VIP Iglo

The line at 10 am

I'm still unsure if it was worth the 3 x the cost. Part of me says yes, we did get the full time on the ice, we didn't have to line up for hours, we did get a place to rest but it was still a lot of money.

Either way skating at this time of the year in this location is a must do experience and no mater how you do it, you need to tick it off the bucket list. I recommend the 4:30 pm session as it doesn't run too late (at 6 pm you're off the ice), but you get the lights on the tree on.

Christmas in NYC

December 2013

New York is often on the top of people's bucket list over the holiday season and its easy to see why.

The stores have their window displays, its cold (or if your lucky snowing) and you can ice skate at a number of locations (including with the big tree at Rockefeller).

In fact probably as cheesy as it was ice skating at The Rink was one of my favourite things during our 9 day trip.

Its hard not to get caught up in the festivities.
