Milsons Point (including Ripples), Sydney, Australia

June 2014

It was a lovely sunny Saturday in Sydney when I found myself meeting a girlfriend for breakfast down at Milsons Point.

Milsons Point provides great viewing of the city, including the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, and is also the location for Luna Park.

Milsons Point is also the location of the Art Deco North Sydney Olympic Pool, where Ripples is also located.

When people talk about Ripples its usually about the view (which is stunning), but I was pleasantly surprised with the food.

Even if you don't eat at Ripples Milsons Point is a great location for a stroll.

Mamak, Chatswood, Sydney

July 2014

I've been wanting to try Mamak since moving back into the Sydney region and while enjoying the mid-season sales at Chatswood with my sister decided it was the perfect opportunity. The best thing about lunch on a Saturday (or this Saturday) was no line!

Limau ais $4
Fresh lime with syrup on ice

Roti canai $5.5The original roti. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside

Rojak $14
A Malaysian-style salad. Prawn and coconut fritters, fried tofu, hard-boiled eggs, freshly shredded yambean and cucumber, topped with a thick spicy peanut sauce

Chicken satay $9 for 1/2 dozen
Grilled over flaming charcoal for that authentic Malaysian flavour. Served with a sweet and spicy peanut sauce

White Rabbit Gallery, Sydney, Australia

June 2014

The White Rabbit Gallery is a contemporary Chinese art collection situated in Chippendale Sydney.

The wall on entry is covered in large art pieces, see the landscape? Well it's made all from tiny pins.

I am not a huge fan of modern art, although I have been lucky to check out some amazing galleries. But I was lucky to be on a small group tour, where explanation of the art and artists helped.

My favourites are always the cats and this sculpture, with it's red eyes was my favourite piece.

Another great thing is the tea house and hand made dumplings, the lychee iced tea was also pretty spectacular.

Chinese Gardens, Sydney, Australia

June 2014

The Chinese Gardens are located on the Chinatown side of Darling Harbour in Sydney.

The walled gardens are a interesting addition to the city landscape, at points you feel like you are in a tranquil gardens and others the looming buildings remind you that you are not.

The Gardens had the Chinese Zodiac symbols spread through, making an interesting treasure type hunt for kids (and adults!).

Entry is $6, however if your there around lunch you can get lunch and entry for $16.50.

Tenko Mori Ramen House, Sydney

June 2014

Tenko Mori Ramen House located at Regent Place, Sydney.

It was extremely popular when I turned up for an early lunch on a Sunday. But the line doesn't take long to get through and there were plenty of seats (unless you had multiple people).

I decided to try the Pork and Kimichi Tonkotsu Ramen. While it was tasty, cheap and filling it wasn't all that special and you can find better Ramen in Sydney.
